SIM Renewal in Central Kalimantan: Requirements, Process, and Deadlines
Document requirements, service flow, and deadlines for renewing a SIM at Satpas offices and SIM Keliling units in Kalteng.
A SIM (Surat Izin Mengemudi — the Indonesian driving licence) is renewed before its 5-year validity period ends. If the renewal is late even by one day, the SIM cannot be renewed and the holder must follow the procedure for issuing a new SIM, including retaking the theory and practical tests.

A SIM Issued Outside Central Kalimantan
The SIM database is connected nationally, so a SIM issued in another region can in principle be renewed in Central Kalimantan. Still confirm with the intended unit before you come, as service availability may differ between units.
Validity Period After Renewal
A renewed SIM is valid for 5 years from the new date of issue; it does not continue the remaining validity of the old SIM.
Required Documents
- Original KTP (Kartu Tanda Penduduk — the Indonesian national identity card) and a photocopy
- The original old SIM, still within its validity period
- Certificate of physical fitness
- Psychological certificate (mental fitness)
Service Procedure
- Prepare the documents: the original KTP, the old SIM that is still valid, a certificate of physical fitness, and a certificate confirming that you have passed the psychological test.
- Choose a service channel: a Satpas, a SIM outlet, or a SIM Keliling bus.
- Take a queue number at the renewal counter.
- Submit the documents so that the validity of the old SIM and the consistency of the data can be verified.
- Pay the renewal PNBP for the relevant SIM class.
- Complete re-identification: photograph, fingerprints, and digital signature.
