The Satuan Penyelenggara Administrasi SIM (Satpas — the police driving licence issuing office) is the unit that handles the issuance, renewal, and replacement of the SIM (Surat Izin Mengemudi — the Indonesian driving licence). In Central Kalimantan, Satpas offices sit under the Satlantas (traffic police unit) of the Polresta/Polres in each regency and city.

Service Availability Is Not Uniform

Every Satpas handles the SIM classes most commonly applied for by the public, namely SIM A and SIM C. However, not every Satpas handles the tests for all classes, particularly SIM B II and the SIM Umum (commercial) classes, which require special testing facilities.

This matters for applicants in regencies that are a long way away: confirm in advance that the service is available for the class you are applying for, so that the journey is not wasted.

Service Hours

Satpas service hours generally follow working days, with counters closing earlier than office hours because the printing of the SIM must be completed on the same day. Arriving at the start of the service hours gives the best chance of finishing within one day.
